LEADING container terminals operator
Patrick will beef up security by adopting powerful digital
systems that can capture 1000 times more data than traditional
cameras.
More than 500 digital security cameras will be installed at
four terminals and two stevedores as Patrick discontinues its
analog CCD (charge coupled device) video camera system.
The new cameras are said to be able to operate in myriad
lighting conditions resulting in higher accuracy of facial
details both indoors and outdoors.
Patrick selected California-based Pixim to supply the new
cameras. Financial details were not disclosed.
"The maritime sites will incorporate Pixim-powered box and
dome camera formats, placed inside Patrick's buildings and
lobbies, as well as outdoors to protect the perimeters and
acreage," Pixim said in a statement.
"At port access points, a person's face is no longer obscured
by back light, shifts in lighting throughout the day or glare
from water," John Monti, Pixim marketing and business
development vice president, said.
